About Christina

Christina Ballard

Christina Ballard

Principal Consultant

Christina is a governance and organizational strategy consultant who helps mission-driven organizations build stronger decision-making structures, healthier leadership systems, and more sustainable foundations for long-term impact.

Her work focuses on the intersection of governance, communication, policy, and organizational alignment — helping nonprofits, civic institutions, and community-based organizations navigate growth, transition, conflict, and strategic change with greater clarity and confidence.

With a background spanning higher education, nonprofit leadership, labor advocacy, public policy, and organizational communication, Christina brings both systems-level thinking and practical facilitation experience to complex institutional challenges. She previously worked as a lobbyist, union leader, and nonprofit director, where she developed a deep understanding of how governance, persuasion, collaboration, and power dynamics shape organizational outcomes.

Christina holds a Master of Arts in Communication Studies and spent more than a decade developing Communication Studies curriculum in higher education. She continues to teach in the Master of Public Administration program at Claremont Lincoln University, where her work centers on leadership, communication, governance, and civic systems.

In addition to her consulting work, Christina serves as Vice Chair of the Human Rights Commission for the City of Salem, Oregon, and as a board member for CASA of Marion County.

Her approach is grounded in the belief that strong organizations are built not only through strategy, but through clear structures, shared understanding, and the ability to navigate difficult conversations with integrity.

Leadership Perspectives

"Christina Ballard brings thoughtful leadership to organizations seeking meaningful strategic growth. As the President of Union Cab of Madison, a 200-member worker-owned cooperative in Madison, WI, I worked closely with her to develop a thoughtful strategic plan that focused on moving the Cooperative forward while staying true to the shared values of our Membership. Christina has an innate ability to guide complex conversations with professionalism, insight, and a strong sense of purpose. She excels at helping boards and leadership teams develop long-term plans that are both visionary and practical."

Jason Glomp, Former Board President and Business Manager, Union Cab of Madison Cooperative

"When Christina Ballard was part of the Umpqua Valley Rainbow Collective (UVRC), she was an invaluable part of our team. She assisted in bringing our nonprofit up to speed in a technological fashion and found ways to cut costs. She also brought her knowledge of constitutions and bylaws for nonprofits to help fill the gaps that the organization had. I appreciate everything that she had brought when she was with us!"

Vyla Grindberg, Former President, UVRC

"Working with Christina Ballard is both a joy and highly valuable. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the table while still being able to relate to and communicate effectively with groups of diverse people. In our work together creating communication strategies and developing policies for a local nonprofit, she was able to help create solutions that took our whole boards' concerns into account while being a team player and producing quality work. The policy foundations that she helped to create continue to help the organization build mindful momentum."
